Abstract
Summary: Chloroquine inhibits serological reactions of anti-D, anti-C, anti-Duffy, anti-Kidd, of some sera with autoantibodies against erythrocytes and of antinuclear factors. Chloroquine has no influence on anti-A, anti-B, anti-c, anti-e, anti-Kell, cold agglutinins, antihuman sera from rabbits, thyreoglobulin antibodies, antibodies against Australia-antigen, and rheumatoid factors. The presence of chloroquine in the samples seems to be necessary for the inhibition of an antigen-antibody reaction. The exact mode of action of chloroquine, however, remains unclear. At the present time, it cannot be definitely said inhowfar the successful application of chloroquine in the treatment of autoimmune diseases is in connection with the inhibition of antibodies.
Zusammenfassung: Chloroquin hemmt die Nachweisbarkeit von Anti-D, Anti-C, Anti-Duffy, Anti-Kidd, von einigen Seren mit Autoantikörpern gegen Erythrocyten und von antinucleären Faktoren. Unter Einwirkung von Chloroquin bleiben Anti-A, Anti-B, Anti-c, Anti-e, Anti-Kell, Kälteagglutinine, Antihumanseren von Kaninchen, Thyreoglobulinantikörpern, Antikörper gegen Australia-Antigen und Rheumafaktoren unbeeinflußt. Zur Hemmung von Antigen-Antikörper-Reaktionen scheint die Anwesenheit von Chloroquin im Versuchsansatz erforderlich zu sein. Der genaue Wirkungsmechanismus ist dabei noch weitgehend ungeklärt. Inwieweit die erfolgreiche Anwendung von Chloroquin bei der Behandlung von Autoimmunerkrankungen auf der Hemmung von Autoantikörpern beruht, kann zur Zeit noch nicht endgültig beurteilt werden.
